our story

Charleeboo offers a unique approach to children's footwear, combining comfort, creativity, and social skills development.

Design and developed in Australia, the brand aims to inspire and boost the self-confidence of little ones on their journey of discovery. Each shoe has an unique 3D character attached to it. These characters, known as Travelmates, are linked to story books that assists with some gentle strategies that can be used to help overcome anxiety.

The shoe range was initially created by a mum who wanted to help her daughter cope with social anxiety. As a very shy toddler, Charlee clutched her toys and struggled to leave her mum's side to play or make friends in new environments. Her “Travelmates”, inspired by her favourite toys, gave her some confidence to play in crowds and sparked conversations among the children.

Charleeboo is committed to investing and contributing to a better future for children one pair of shoes at a time. It aims to provide parents with a tool to teach children how to deal with their anxiety in a fun and fashionable way.

  • Social Anxiety

In Australia 325,000 children aged between 4-11yrs have some form of anxiety, in the UK that number is 300,000 and 4,000,000 children aged 3-11yrs in America are struggling with anxiety.  As parents, we naturally expect young children to play and have fun.  In fact, playing and socialising are crucial to a child’s development.  The reality is that some children are terrified in social situations, they show behavioural issues such as excessive clinging coupled with tantrums in social environments (just to name a few).

My Charlee showed signs of having social anxiety from a young age and having her travel mates accompany her wherever she went gave her confidence  to play in crowds, sparked conversations among the children, but more so served as a tool which I used to teach her coping methods.
